Easter Work- Representation..503
From looking at this (http://blackpoolmedia.wordpress.com/category/representation/) blog and watching the videos, I noticed that the representation can be categorised under the following categories:
Age:this is from the skins trailer
The videos show that teenagers tend to have close bonds with their friends, as throughout everyone is seen in groups having fun, this fun involves having a wild party which shows drug taking, drinking. This is shown through long shots to close ups of specific action which happens with the main characters of the series. The sound is non diegetic and plays along with the party and the lyrics ‘standing in the way of control’ represents their outlook of life. During the trailer, there is a close up of Sid having ‘virgin’ written over his head which shows that teenagers have serious worries about the way they come across to their friends, it also shows that being in a relationship is a concern but more to females as Michelle is seen having an argument with Tony, whereas throughout he is seen to be care-free and doing as he pleases.
Gender:
The video from The OC shows a stereotypical role reversal
